Kiss & Tell: Here’s something I’m painfully not good at…power-pop. I wish I was. I want to be the 15-year-old again that believes he can make songs like Weezer and Fountains of Wayne. But alas it is not meant to be. I still go through phases where I want to try and this is one such song. Like the last posted tune this is from the ‘vault’. So I decided to resurrect it from the Protools sessions and complete it just to say that I did. I didn’t quite get the sound I was hearing in my head but I never really do anyway.
The idea and riff for the song is from way back when the band moved to Nashville. I remember sitting in our sorta dining room, sorta practice space in a semi-circle with Nick and Kyle belting out the “oh-o-whoas” in the chorus. It would have been cool for them sing the chorus but space and time made that too difficult. Kyle originally gave this a working title of ‘Marmalade Soup’ or ‘New Bag of Chips’, I don’t recall which it was. I went a little less obtuse with the current title but laugh when I think about those other titles. I also want to thank Jhoot again for another cool art design! Enjoy.
